Jane Ristuben Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory (26th St. Chapel) - Bradenton on Jan. 19, 2026.
Jane D. Ristuben, of Bradenton, Florida, 91 years young, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Enosburg, Vermont, to Melvin and Frederica Wyman, Jane dedicated her life to her family and to her lifelong passions for sports, nursing, and helping others.

Devoted wife of James F. Ristuben for 17 years before his death in 1987, Jane was a nurturing mother, grandmother, and cherished friend. Coming into Jim's life during a difficult time, she helped raise his youngest child and became a loving, trusted mentor to his two teenagers. Years later, when they were in their 20s and 30s, her stepchildren asked her to adopt them, and they shared that joyful experience together as adults.

Jane was a constant compassionate caregiver. In addition to her career that began as a hospital pediatric nurse and subsequently spanned many years as an industrial/occupational nurse, she also graciously supported several family members and friends as they navigated their terminal illnesses. Her genuine kindness and warm sense of humor touched everyone she met.

She found joy in golfing and cheering on her favorite team-the Red Sox-caring for her many pets, tending the birds and plants in her beautiful garden, and collecting postcards and stamps through the years.

Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel, 5624 26th Street West, Bradenton, Florida, is in charge of arrangements.

Jane is survived by her children, Gregg (Julie), Karen, and Erik (Maryna); her grandchildren, Jake Stafford, Cristie Misquez and Kayleigh and Craig Ristuben; nieces Dana and Sue Chenier; and her lifelong dear friend, Amelia (Mimi) Reiff. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim, her sister Judy, and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Audubon Society in honor of Jane's love of birds and wildlife.
