ATHOL, MA - Jane Evashousky "Ersey" Soderman

Jane Evashousky "Ersey" Soderman, 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday afternoon, May 17, 2025 at Alliance Health at Baldwinville Nursing Home in Templeton, Ma.

She was born to Paul "Paulie" and Bernice "Bernie" (Blackmer) Evashousky at the Lying-in Hospital in Athol, MA on September 14, 1934.

Jane worked as a CNA at Athol Hospital in the early 1970's, and in the late 70's she worked in Dept 16 at The L. S. Starrett Company, for 20 years before retiring at the age of 65.

Jane was known for her quick wit, incredible memory, and her intuition and ability to see what others are unable to. She carried her "brag book" of her family for whom she loved deeply and was tremendously proud of.

A lifelong resident of Athol, Jane attended local Athol schools, In 1967 settled in the Riverbend School neighborhood. Her home there became warm and welcoming place for family and friends for over 58 years. It was the heart of countless holidays and gatherings- a space filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. She took pride in being one of the neighborhood's longest-standing residents.

She was predeceased by her parents Bernice "Bernie" Bennett (April 1998) and Paul "Paulie" Evashousky (April 1965), her step-father Abram Bennett (April 1964), her brother John Evashousky (April 2022), her son F. Thomas Roberts (April 2016) and her partner Ed Gleba (January 2022).

She leaves a sister Teresa "Polly" Powers of Coopers Mills, Maine, and two daughters, Jani Fox (Roy Sr.) and Julianne Matthews (Roland Sr.) of Athol, MA; Daughter in law Mary Andrews Roberts.

Grandchildren: Roy Fox Jr. (Sarah), Sara Fox Mifflin (Mike) of Athol, Rachel Fox-Stevens (Blake) of Salt Lake City Utah, Roland Matthews Jr. (Tammy) of Athol, Lisa Fritz (Tom) of San Antonio, TX, Brianna Haskins (Matt) of Athol and Kelsey Jurek (Nick) of Erving, MA. Great Grandchildren: Roy Fox III (Marieny) of Athol, Liam Sly of Utah, Justin Matthews (Taylor) of Athol, Jordan Matthews (Madison) of Georgia and Alexandria Fritz of South Carolina. Great-Great Grandchildren: Izzy and Killian Hough, and Jackson Matthews of Athol.

The family would like to thank the staff from Alliance Health at Baldwinville Nursing Home in Templeton, MA for care that Jane received while there.

There will be no calling hours.

Interment at Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol, will be private.

Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, is assisting the family.
