Jane Ellen (McIntire) Stotts went to her eternal Home on July 9, 2025. Born on August 5, 1940, in Whiteland, IN, Jane accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a college student, passionately loving and serving God above all else throughout her life.
She is survived by her children Jeff (Regine) Stotts, Kay (Leonardo) Godoy Stotts, and Doug (Rachel) Stotts; grandchildren Brett (Elizabeth), Hope, Amelia, Jacob, Owen, Sofia, and Benjamin; great grandchildren Emily and Makaii; and many nieces and nephews. They rejoice over her faithfulness and that she is now with Jesus and reunited with her beloved husband Pastor William “Bill” Stotts.
Jane earned a bachelor’s degree in business and physical education from Indiana Central College (now known as the University of Indianapolis). She earned a second bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Indiana State University. After taking time to be a stay-at-home mom, she spent 21 joyful years teaching at Heritage Christian School in Indianapolis. She built lasting relationships with students, parents and colleagues. Her greatest fulfillment came from helping students grow in their relationship with the Lord Jesus.
Accompanying Bill in ministry at United Methodist and Free Methodist churches throughout Illinois and Indiana was a calling Jane embraced with her whole heart. Fondly known as “PB&J” (Pastor Bill and Jane) at the last church they pastored full time in Washington, Indiana, they were quite a team! For 59 ½ years, she was by his side loving others and helping point them to Jesus. She taught Sunday School, led women’s groups and Bible studies, ran a church day care center, and enjoyed making people feel welcome in their home.
Jane loved her family! Gathering together brought her great happiness and she was the #1 fan of each of them: supporting, encouraging, and helping them reach their potential.
She was eager to honor God with the life and time He gave her on earth. As early risers, Jane and Bill started every day in God’s Word and were passionate people of prayer. Jane had an unassuming grace and regalness about her that endured to her final breath. The joy of the Lord was her strength.
Jane is preceded in death by her husband Bill Stotts, her parents Raymond “Jack” and Delores McIntire, and brothers Wayne (Ginny) and Don (Henrietta) McIntire.
A celebration of her life will be held at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Home on East Washington Street in Indianapolis, IN on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 3pm, to honor her memory and rejoice in the promise of everlasting life. Officiated by Pastor Jeff Gammon, the service will be preceded by visitation from 1:00-3:00pm and followed by burial.
