Jane Swinford Obituary

Jane Upchurch Swinford, age 76, of Savannah passed away Friday, August 22, 2025. After her stroke, she fought with incredible strength and determination for three months, demonstrating an unwavering will to live. She faced every challenge with grit, a true warrior in her own right.

Jane was born on July 7, 1949 in Savannah, Georgia. After graduating from Jenkins High School in 1967, she worked in the medical industry for many years, often doing various administrative jobs. She also owned and operated Kelly's Casseroles for five years. Jane was a social butterfly who wanted nothing more than to be surrounded by her loved ones. There was never a dull moment with her and she was full of fun and curiosity. She loved to have a good time, whether it was playing dress up with her grandchildren or dancing barefoot to her favorite music. Her creativity was limitless, expressed through drawings, paintings, and was even reflected in her gardening. With a cheeky sense of humor and a big heart, Jane brought joy to everyone she met. She carried herself with a quiet confidence and was a beautiful person, inside and out. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by parents, South W. Upchurch and Alma Upchurch Edgerton; her husband of 20 years, Michael Swinford; and her son, Kevin Christopher Aliotta.

She is survived by her twin sister & brother-in-law, Judy & Ronald Page; her son & daughter-in-law, Sean & Tiffany Aliotta; daughters & sons-in-law, Stephanie & Richard Coomer and Tere & Patrick Rushing; five grandchildren, Everette, Molly, Hayden, Reagan, and Owens; one great-grandchild, Brooks; and one niece and two nephews.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025 from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. at Baker McCullough Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel (7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive Savannah, GA 31406).

Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with a private family graveside.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hospice Savannah, Inc. (PO BOX 13190 Savannah, GA, 31416).
