Jane M. Tullo
December 7, 1924 - April 26, 2023
Oxnard, California - Jane Marino Tullo, most recently of Oxnard, CA, went home to be with the Lord on April 26th, 2023, after a very full life of 98 years. Jane was born in 1924 in Greenwich, CT to the late Dominic Marino and Frances Minnitti Marino and attended Greenwich High School. After a career as a bookkeeper, Jane married Vito A. Tullo of Mount Vernon, NY and together they raised a family of six children. As a full-time mother and homemaker, Jane transformed their houses - first in Connecticut, then New Jersey, and eventually California - into showcase homes filled with her handmade touches, antiques, great food, music and lots of love and laughter. Jane was a curious student of life, with a love for travel, art, music, dancing, nature, gardening, and history.
While her children were school age, Jane volunteered with numerous organizations, including St. Mel Church and School. There she served as a librarian where she passed along her love of reading to the young children. She also enjoyed bowling, bridge, mahjong, hiking, picking fresh vegetables from her garden, cooking, and working in her yard.
After her husband Vito retired, they moved to their beloved town of Cambria, CA where they enjoyed 27 years of living in one of California's most scenic coastal towns. Acting as docents she and Vito both shared their gifts with the public as volunteers at the historic Hearst Castle. They were also dedicated parishioners of the local Santa Rosa Catholic Church. Jane loved living in "Cambria Pines-By-The-Sea" and especially loved her pre-dawn walks to the beach (which she continued into her early nineties).
One of Jane's greatest joys was being surrounded by her children and grandchildren for holiday gatherings. Jane practiced "the art of entertaining" leaving no detail untouched and took pleasure in menu planning, crafting beautiful tablescapes, preparing delicious Italian meals and sharing her home with family, friends, and neighbors.
Predeceasing Jane was her daughter Patricia Ann; her father Dominic Marino, her mother Frances Marino, her brothers, Anthony Marino, Frank Marino, Pasqual Marino and Dominic Marino, Jr., and her sister Minnie (Dominica) Marino; and her granddaughter, Brooke Powers Wilson.
Jane leaves behind her loving husband of 70 years, Vito; and is survived by her children, Nancy L. Tullo, Frank V. Tullo, Peter A. (Mary Amerio) Tullo, Barbara (Bill) Booth and Ann Marie Tullo. She is also survived by her grandchildren Vito A. (Danielle Grimm) Tullo and great-grandson Owen; Dominic V. (Alexandra Archer) Tullo, great-grand daughter Maeve; Joshua (Bianca Reynoso) Jacob and great-grandchildren Bradley and Gwen; her sister Marie Congelosi and a brother Stephen Marino and numerous nieces and nephews.
When asked about her secret to her long and healthy life, Jane would respond, "garlic, olive oil, fresh air", and the unspoken ingredient that gave her the twinkle in her eye.
