Jane Creed (Donnelly) Vera, formerly of Brockton, and Cambridge, Massachusetts, died on Christmas Day, 2025 in Vergennes, Vermont. Jane was born on St. Patrick's Day in 1937, the daughter of the late Lillian Reardon Creed and John L. Creed. She was predeceased by her sister Ann Creed MacGowan, her brother Jack Creed, her grandson Seamus H. Donnelly, and her former husbands William L. Donnelly and Joseph S. Vera. Jane is survived by her sons William and Christopher, her daughter Maura, her daughter-in-law Krista, and her grandchildren Moira, Liam, and Simon.
Jane graduated from Brockton High School in 1955 and worked in Boston until her marriage in 1961. From 1969 to 1972, the Donnellys lived on St. Croix, in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where Jane was the co-manager of the Ox Mill resort. Returning to Brockton as a single parent, she worked for the city's school department while raising her three children. Jane then joined the staff of the Harvard Graduate School of Design and moved to Cambridge in 1981. At the Graduate School of Design, she became the administrative officer for its international programs before retiring after fifteen years of service with the university. In retirement, Jane enjoyed traveling, visiting with friends and her Reardon relatives, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Jane's wake will be held on Friday, January 9, from 4 to 7 PM at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street, Stoughton, Massachusetts.
What we all remember most about Jane is her love of people. Whether she knew you for years, or only in a passing encounter, Jane always treated others with kindness and empathy. In times of joy and in times of sorrow, you could count on Jane to be with you. She gave so much to so many people, a living testament to one of her faith's most important teachings. We will miss her terribly, but we will celebrate the great gift that was her time with us.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
