Jane Yoder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hackman Family Funeral Homes - Hackman Chapel on Feb. 8, 2024.
Jane Elizabeth (Ellinger) Yoder age 83 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening February 4, 2024 at her home.
She was born February 11, 1940 in Toledo, Ohio daughter of the late H. Clay and Helen (Swinehart) Ellinger. On September 2, 1961 she married Eli Yoder, Jr. in Connersville, Indiana. They then attended Ball State University together in Muncie before settling their family in Northern Indiana.
Mrs. Yoder resided in Sturgis for the past 23 years after moving from Middlebury, Indiana. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, renowned for her skills as a gardener, a matriarch, and a business partner alongside her husband at their business, Artisan Interiors.
Jane had a true gift for gardening and was a proud member of her book club. Always the friendly competitor, she enjoyed all games and leisure sports, especially familial contests of Catch Phrase, online bouts of backgammon, or her daily Wordle group. She gained true acclaim for her skills on the golf course and between the cornhole boards. While Jane had many hobbies and interests, what she treasured most was quality time spent surrounded by her loved ones.
She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 61 years: Eli; daughters: Stacey Pletcher, Michelle Anderson, and Laura (Jonothan) Godt; son: Adam (Heather Dimon) Yoder; grandchildren: Ryan (Ashley Barnes) Petersen, Madison (Kyle) Steinbaker, Dylan (Evelyn Caty) Pletcher, and Neva Godt; great grandson: Roman Steinbaker; sister: Sally Nordenbrock, and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held at the family home at a later date.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
In honoring Jane's love of reading the family suggests memorial donations be directed to the Nottawa Township Library, 685 E. Main St., Centreville, MI 49032.
We encourage relatives and friends to share memories and condolences at www.hackmanfamilyfuneralhomes.com.

While we only knew Jane for a short time she always made us feel welcome. We enjoyed a few visits to the beautiful lake house with the family. Eli and Jane were so kind to offer their house for Kyle and Madison“s wedding. We will miss Jane very much. Love, Chris & Shellie.
