Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sisco Funeral Chapel - Springdale on Nov. 6, 2025.
JaNean Marie Framstad, 85, of
Springdale, Arkansas, passed away on November 3, 2025, at Edgewood Health & Rehabilitation Center. She entered into rest peacefully, surrounded by family.
JaNean was born on August 25, 1940, to George and Grace (Meyer) Tellinghuisen in Clark, South Dakota. She grew up in Willow Lake, South Dakota, with her siblings, Wayne, Lynda, and Marleen. JaNean graduated from Willow Lake High School in 1958, followed by cosmetology school.
Always showing love through acts of service, she worked as a beautician-doing hair and combing out tangles and troubles with a listening ear.
She married Donald Norman Framstad in May of 1962 while he was serving in the United States Air Force. They began a 60-year marriage while he was stationed in Blytheville, Arkansas, and she faithfully followed as he was stationed in Ramstein, Germany, for two rotations. During the first rotation, their daughter, Donna, was born in 1966, and during the second, their son, David, was born in 1970.
The family settled in
Springdale, Arkansas, in 1975, where JaNean built a community and the foundation for a beautiful life.
JaNean was a longtime, dedicated member of First Presbyterian Church of Springdale. Whether as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, or church elder, she consistently worked to serve the church and its community. She volunteered regularly at Christian United Pantry and was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
She was also a prolific and talented artist, painting whenever she could, on whatever surface she could find. Her friends at the Ozark Creative Artists Club were always an inspiration for her creativity.
JaNean was a social butterfly who loved to surround herself with friends and loved ones. She was also a fantastic gardener and cook, often combining these hobbies to create delicious concoctions. To know JaNean was to know the delicacy of her jalapeño jelly, gifted to many. Pie will never be the same, as her love and hard work were baked into every handmade crust. She showed love through the things she created and did for others, never relenting in her pursuit to make sure everyone around her-and their fridges-were fulfilled.
JaNean was a devoted and diligent grandmother, eagerly dedicating a tremendous amount of her time, energy, and resources to her grandchildren. She provided, protected, and participated in every aspect of their upbringing, leaving an incredible impact of love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald N. Framstad; her parents; and her brothers, Wayne Tellinghuisen and Harlan Tellinghuisen.
JaNean is survived by her daughter, Donna Murie, of
Springdale, Arkansas; her son, David Framstad, and wife, Cathy McCall, of
Springdale, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Margaret Murie and Dylan Framstad; two sisters, Lynda (Mike) Mucha of Racine, Wisconsin, and Marleen (Ron) Meester of Webster, South Dakota; and her sister-in-law, Sherrie Tellinghuisen of Willow Lake, South Dakota, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Springdale, 100 S. Gutensohn Road. The service can also be viewed on First Presbyterian Church's YouTube channel: https://bit.ly/492rW0t
