Janell Marie Thigpen

Kinder-A Mass of Christian burial honoring Janell Marie Sonnier Thigpen, 83, will be held at 1 o'clock p.m. on Friday afternoon, November 7, 2025, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Kinder. Rev. Fr. Alan Trouille will officiate. Janelle will be laid to rest at Deshotel Cemetery in Oakdale immediately following her services.

Janell's family will receive friends and visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder on Friday morning, November 7, 2025, from 9 o'clock a.m. until time of service with the recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 10 o'clock a.m. All of Janell's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder.

Janell was a lifelong resident of Allen Parish. She inherited her excellent cooking skills from her Cajun background. She fully expected to hear "Ca c'est bon" when she served a home-cooked meal. She loved sharing stories from her past and preferred telling those stories in Cajun French. She spent many years working in retail where she became a well-known friendly face in the community. Janell will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Janell's memory include her sister, Loretta Sonnier Boone of Oakdale; 2 stepchildren, 8 grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loved ones. She had a host of friends, and some were honorary family members especially Mary Young, Penny Young, and Ronnie Young all of LeBlanc.

Janell is preceded in death by her parents, Ducles and Daya Deshotel Sonnier; her husband, Carl Thigpen; her son, James "Jimmy" Fontenot; and 3 brothers, Elwood Sonnier, Millard Sonnier, and Jerry Sonnier.
