Janelle Newby Heiner, age 89 of Gatesville, passed away on October 22, 2025. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28 at Flint Creek Cemetery.
Janelle was born on August 28, 1936, in Temple, Texas to the late Arthur and Orbin Newby. Janelle grew up in Temple and graduated from Temple High School. On May 29, 1954, she married Jacob Heiner, Jr. and they resided in Gatesville the majority of their life. They had 67 loving years together before Jacob passed away in 2022.
Janelle was a gifted florist and artist. Many family members still treasure her artwork and have it displayed throughout their homes. In the spring, she loved to travel to the Texas Hill Country to see the bluebonnets in bloom. Janelle was a florist most of her life and eventually worked as a floral teacher with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice system before her retirement.
Janelle is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jacob Heiner; sisters, Virginia Cole, Rosie Westfall, and Carolyn Barton; and brother, Arthur “Bubba” Newby.
She is survived by her son, Randy Heiner and wife, Carol; daughter, Kathy Heiner and spouse, Mary; grandson, Cody Heiner and girlfriend, Peyton; granddaughter, Mandy Morrison and husband, Jason; and many nieces and nephews.
