In loving memory of Janet Crofts Asper

Janet Crofts Asper passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. Her warmth, compassion, and strength touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Born March 3, 1934, in Heyburn, Idaho, the daughter of George and Marjorie Nielson Crofts. Janet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, teacher, music educator, missionary, and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Janet was married to Ronald J. Asper in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1956. She lost her eternal companion in 1992 and has been a widow for 32 years. Her passions included walking, tennis, service to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, travel, piano, reading, and time with her family. She served as a missionary in the Bangkok, Thailand Mission and was in the MTC with her oldest grandson. She went on to serve in Turkey, the Church Headquarters, the Bountiful Food Pantry, and taught English in China, showing us her courage and sense of adventurous faith.

Janet taught for 34 years. She was known for her creation of innovative music curriculum and served as an adjunct faculty member for BYU where she taught courses on elementary music.

Janet Asper will be remembered for her love of family and her unwavering devotion to those she held dear. Her greatest joy was spending time with her loved ones, and she leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories.

She is survived by her sisters, Georgia Paskett (Milo) and Kathryn Westover (Terrell); daughter, Diane Pulley (Dan); Debra Asper (Linda); grandchildren, Ryan Olsen (Samantha), Nathan Olsen, Graham Olsen (Cinthya), Joseph Pulley, and Madison Kafka Asper; as well as her beloved great-grandchildren, Jackson Olsen, Henry Olsen, Gemma Olsen, Isabella Olsen, Mason Olsen, and Thomas Mickel.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald J. Asper, parents George and Marjorie Crofts, sisters Lynn Venturini and Carolyn Crofts, brother Thomas Crofts, her daughter Denise Asper, and granddaughter Ashley Mickel.

Her legacy of love, kindness, open mindedness, intelligence, humor and a testimony of Jesus Christ and the eternal life of families will forever be cherished. A celebration of her life will be held on February 14, 2025, at the Bountiful 16th Ward located at 720 East 550 North, Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the church.
