David Adam Gibson passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, in Kaysville, UT due to complications related to Frontotemporal Dementia.

He was born in Oakland, California on August 6, 1965, and was adopted by George and Sandra Gibson a few days later. He enjoyed being part of a large family, working on their 5 acre “farm”, milking cows every morning and selling surplus vegetables to his neighbors. He graduated from Linden High School and enrolled at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. He soon interrupted his educational pursuits to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Philadelphia area, serving mainly in Delaware and New Jersey.

Following his mission, he continued his studies with a short stint at Utah Valley Community College and a couple of semesters at Brigham Young University, where he met his future wife, Julie Beck. They were married in April 1989, in the Idaho Falls Temple. He eventually returned to Weber State, where he obtained a degree in Information Systems, around the time their first daughter, Sydney, was born in 1992. They moved to Idaho Falls for a short period of time, adding another daughter, Kate, to the family.

In 1994, Dave accepted a job with the State of Utah’s Legislative Auditor General’s Office, first working in IT and later becoming a performance auditor. He loved the wonderful people he worked with and enjoyed the unique challenges each audit presented. His son, Matthew, was born in 1996, completing the family. They moved to Farmington, Utah in 2001, and loved the community there.

Dave was passionate about fly fishing and enjoyed tying his own flies despite his color- blindness, which led to some entertaining mistakes and good-natured teasing from his fishing buddies. He was involved in the leadership of the Great Western Fly Fisherman Club for several years and made life-long friends there. With these men, he made several pilgrimages to Canada and Alaska in search of the catch of a lifetime and created wonderful memories.

Dave’s other passion was smoking various meats on his prize Yoder. He loved to organize neighborhood and work parties as a way to show off his brisket or pork shoulder preparation skills. He enjoyed growing a large garden, often planting upwards of 80 tomato plants, and was generous in sharing his abundant produce with his neighbors.

In November of 2023, after a period of unusual and baffling behavior, he was diagnosed with the behavioral variant of FTD, a rapidly progressing form of early onset dementia. Eventually, it was necessary to move him to Whisper Cove Assisted Living, where he resided in the Memory Care unit until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, John, Kenny, Vicky and Casey. He is survived by his wife, Julie, and his children, Sydney (Peter) Nordgren of South Jordan, Kate Gibson of American Fork and Matt Gibson of Farmington, three grandchildren, Faye, Walter, and Harvey Nordgren and three sisters, Pam Hernandez, Deb Carroll, and Annie Gibson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on March 14, 2026, at the Davis Creek Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 825 S 50 E, Farmington, Utah. Friends are invited to meet with the family before the services from 9:30 A.M. – 10:30 A.M. Following the services, interment will be at the Hooper City Cemetery, 5290 S 6300 W, Hooper, Utah. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary.
