Janet Bain Obituary
Born February 6, 1935 in Richmond Furnace, PA, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Dororthy Umbrell Stains.
Janet graduated from James Buchanan High School and worked as a nurse's assistant at the Franklin County Nursing Home. She married Ira B. "Jim" Bain and raised 5 children, Deborah, Trudy, Theresa, Gregory, and Dianna. Janet loved cats and enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and watching the wildlife outside her home. She loved her grandchildren and family dearly and enjoyed eating grape nut ice cream.
Janet is survived by 4 children, Deborah (Kerby) Skinner, Theresa Beck, Gregory (Shirley) Bain, Dianna (Max) Kruszewski, and numerous grandchildren, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Ira B. "Jim" Bain in 1982, a daughter, Trudy Cline, and a granddaughter, Christy Ann Shaffer.
A viewing will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Fries Funeral Home in Mercersburg, PA. A funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 11, at Fries Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Fahnestock officiating and burial will take place at Stenger Hill Cemetery, Fort Loudon, PA.
