Janet E. Bakley, a cherished member of the Marlton community, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. Born on April 2, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Janet's life was a tapestry of dedication to her family, her church, and her community.
She carried the love and teachings of her late parents, Charles A. Bakley and Violet M. Bakley nee Thompson, throughout her life. The loss of her sister, Doreen Bakley, and her cousins, Bill Daly and John Bakley, was felt deeply, yet she continued to embody the family's strength and unity.
A lifelong resident of Marlton, Janet's presence was felt in every corner of the town. Her devotion to her faith was evident through her active participation in St. Joan of Arc Church, where she served with grace and humility. Janet's faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her.
Janet's love for history and community was unparalleled. As a vital member of the Evesham Township Historical Society, she worked tirelessly to preserve the rich tapestry of the town's past for future generations. Her involvement with the Marlton Senior Citizens Club showcased her commitment to her peers, offering her wisdom, laughter, and support.
In her younger years, Janet's adventurous spirit took her to many corners of the world. Her travels were not only journeys of distance but of the heart, as she collected memories and mementos along the way. Her collections of thimbles and stamps were more than hobbies; they were reflections of the places she'd seen and the experiences she'd cherished.
Janet's legacy is carried on by her loving cousins, Elena Daly (Larry), Sharon McGowan (Bob), Kathleen McGurk (late Ed Luiso), and Jim Bakley (Jodi), along with many other extended family members. Her spirit, a blend of compassion, dedication, and warmth, will continue to live on through the stories they share and the memories they hold dear.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Bradley Funeral Home, 601 Rt 73 South and Evesham Rd, Marlton, NJ 08053. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am, at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Marlton Baptist Cemetery in Marlton.
