Janet Bare

Janet Lucille Bare, 99, of Hampstead, MD, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026 at Inspirations Memory Care in Westminster, MD. Born October 13, 1926 in Hampstead, MD, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Nettie (Grimm) Rhoten. Beloved wife to the late Paul Richard Bare, whom she shared 50 years of marriage prior to his passing in 1996. She was a 1943 graduate of Hampstead High School. Prior to her retirement, Janet had a long spanning financial assistant career with Hampstead Bank & Noxell Corporation. She was the oldest member of the Hampstead Ladies Auxiliary. Janet enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling with her friends, especially Casino bus trips in her later years. She is predeceased by son, Paul Douglas Bare; sister, Juanita M. Grimm; and brothers, Walter Michael Rhoten and Ornan Bruce Rhoten. Surviving are her daughter, Peggy Ann (Mike) Wilfong; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Bare; five grandsons, Craig Bare, Kevin Bare, Tim Wilfong, Brandon (Elizabeth) Wilfong, and Matthew (Gwendolyn) Wilfong; two granddaughters, Melissa Simons and Aubrey (Carlos) Hall; two great-granddaughters, Kassidy Johnson and Kayleigh Williams-Bare; two great-grandsons, Jackson Simons and Colton Bare; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Guests are welcome to a visitation held Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main St., Hampstead, MD 21074. A funeral service will be held Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Melissa Rudolph officiating. Interment will follow in Hampstead Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Bridging Life Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157 or to the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Department, 1341 North Main St., Hampstead, Maryland 21074.
