With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Janet Bencomo. She peacefully left us for her eternal reward on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the age of 72, surrounded by her family.
Janet was born on April 20, 1953 in Raton, NM. She lived a life filled with love, warmth, and a devotion to her family. As a wife, she shared 47 wonderful years of love and partnership with her husband and the love of her life, Benjamin Bencomo, who will forever hold her memory close to his heart. As a mother, she nurtured, loved, and adored her son, Benjamin, and had a special place in her heart for Almadelia Bencomo (daughters: Brenda, Alejandra, and Gabriela) and Armando Bencomo (daughter: Reina), who she gained as children and grandchildren through marriage.
Janet was especially proud for her many years of service to the seniors of Harding County.
As a grandmother, Janet was a source of joy and endless affection to her grandchildren, Amiyah, Benjamin, and Mireya Bencomo. She reveled in the time spent with them, cherishing every moment.
In addition to her role as a devoted family member, Janet was also a sister, an aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She touched the lives of all who knew her with her infectious smile, generous spirit, and unwavering loyalty. Whether through family gatherings, shared memories, or quiet acts of kindness, her presence made everyone feel like they mattered.
She is survived by her loving husband, Benjamin; son, Benjamin; daughter-in-law, Michelle; grandchildren, Amiyah, Benjamin, and Mireya; sisters Mary Arellano (Ernesto), Ruby Gutierrez, Vickie Cordova, and brother Thomas Ybarra (Juanita) as well as countless nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives she brightened with her genuine kindness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Amadeo and Nadine Ybarra, brother-in-law Ernesto Gutierrez, father-in-law, Preciliano Bencomo, mother-in-law, Esther Bencomo, brothers-in-law, Preciliano Bencomo Jr. and Nicolas Orozco, sisters-in-law, Cuca Anchondo and Dorotea Bencomo, and special nephew, Johnny Arias.
Rosary will be recited on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 9:30am, funeral mass will follow with both services to be held at Holy Family Church in Roy with Father Agustin Henderson as celebrant. Interment will follow at Roy Cemetery in Roy, NM where she will rest in peace, united with the saints and angels. Serving as pallbearers to honor her memory and legacy will be Adrian Orozco, Noel Bencomo Jr., Leonard Arias, Amadeo Soto, Adam Cordova, Dean Gutierrez, Sonny Ybarra, and Robert Arellano. Honorary pallbearers will be all her nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a reception following the burial at the Harding County Community Building in Roy, NM.
