Janet Louise Bottger, 83, recently of Ogden, passed away peacefully at The Auberge Assisted Living early Monday morning, June 2, 2025, after a brave battle with lung cancer.

Born September 1, 1941, in Los Angeles, California to Robert Lee and Louise Thayne Bottger, Janet was the younger of two children, and she and her older brother, Gary, were raised in L.A.

Janet graduated from George Washington High School, Class of 1959. She later graduated from California Stage College in Los Angeles with her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and began teaching in California. She also taught in New York, and eventually in Utah.

It was there that she met her future husband, Kenneth Harold Franck, in Salt Lake City. They were married in Utah, moved to Idaho, and raised their three amazing children in Idaho and later back in Utah. They were later divorced.

Primarily a homemaker, Janet began working at Hill Air Force Base as a receptionist and later as a safety instructor, retiring in 2004.

Janet loved to sew sequin calendars, read history and murder mysteries, and play the piano. She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Janet was very sociable and enjoyed eating out with friends as well as tending to her rose bushes. She was a dedicated gardener but more importantly was a devoted grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren, namely Jackson, Brady, Nicholas, Mateo, and Makana.

Janet was fond of pets and politics. She liked to stay in the know regarding current events and would talk politics with anyone who could listen.

Janet will be remembered most for her love of family, her love of the Gospel, and being a ‘pretty sassy lady.’

Janet is survived by her three children, Janicka (Todd) Carver of Plain City, Lee (Claudia) Franck of Los Angeles, California, and Heather (Dayne Law) Franck of Caldwell, Idaho; her five grandchildren; and by her brother, Gary (Diane) Bottger of Beaverton, Oregon.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Ogden.

The family wishes to thank the staff of The Auberge and Symbii Hospice for their loving and professional care of our Mom.
