Janet Louise Carothers, 81, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, after valiantly battling breast cancer for years, passed away peacefully at home on July 21, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family and the grace of hospice care.
Born on November 4, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Joseph and Annette Mosco Fallucco, Janet brought warmth, creativity, and an eye for beauty to every chapter of her life. In 2007, she made her home in the Charlotte area, where she remained a cherished neighbor and loving presence.
Janet's talents were as varied as they were heartfelt. Her years at Sears reflected a commitment to hard work, but her true gift lay in crafting spaces and moments that felt like home. As an interior decorator, one walk through her house revealed her flair for detail and her ability to transform the ordinary into something special. Her artistry extended beyond décor-she was also a gifted hairdresser, effortlessly styling her own hair and generously sharing her skills with others, a legacy lovingly carried on by her daughter Cindy.
Later in life, Janet found fulfillment as a post-closing clerk with Hergenroder and Heights Real Estate Company, where her meticulous attention and care brought ease to those navigating the complex process of buying and selling homes. Her steady hands and kind heart helped guide countless clients with grace.
Above all, Janet was a pillar of love and strength to her family who lived and showed her faith daily..
She is survived by her husband, James "Jim" Carothers; her children: Kenneth (Beth Ann) Rose and Brian (Rose) Rose, both of Pittsburgh, Cynthia "Cindy" Rose-Woy of Pleasant Hills, PA, and Pamela Rose of Elizabeth Township, PA. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Kelli, Danny, Elizabeth "Lizzy", Brian, Andy, Savanah, Alyssa and Nicholas; and great-grandchildren: Amelia, Ellie and Everleigh. She is also survived by the father of her children, John Rose, her siblings, as well as a host of other relatives and dear friends including those of her church family at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Charlotte where she was also a member of the Society of Mary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Interment will take place at a later date at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Pittsburgh.
Janet made her arrangements in advance and has given the privilege of caring for her and serving her family to the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews.
Janet's family would like to recognize and acknowledge the prayer chain that through the years and even now, prayed for her and her family.
My mother, my anchor, my very best friend,
Through storms and sorrow, she'd always defend.
Her faith a beacon, her prayers never ceased,
A chain of hope-each day released.
She walked with the Lord, both humble and wise,
Guiding with grace, with love in her eyes.
Protecting, encouraging, lighting my way,
With whispers to Heaven, she'd softly pray.
Now I pray she's at peace, in a place full of light,
Her smile unfading, joyful and bright.
No more pain, no shadows to trace-
Only Jesus' love, and eternal embrace.
Oh, Jesus, who cherished her soul so true,
Guard her with mercy, her spirit renew.
Mom, I love you, God bless you again,
Forever in prayer, Amen and Amen.
