Janet Cecil Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lyerly Funeral Home on Jan. 7, 2026.
Janet Kaye Wilson Cecil, 71, of Rockwell, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday December 20, 2025, at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical in Charlotte, NC after a brief illness.

She was born on February 5, 1954, in Salisbury to the late Billie Joe Wilson and Mabel Doane Wilson. Janet was a 1972 graduate of East Rowan High School and a 1975 graduate of Cabarrus School of Nursing. After 30 years as an RN, she retired from Northeast Medical Center in Concord due to health reasons. During retirement, Janet enjoyed being a homemaker. She was famous for her delicious chocolate pound cake, hashbrown casserole, and cornbread. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach, watching Fox News and football, and taking care of her fur babies. Janet loved the Lord and her family. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cecil, whom she married on October 27, 1992, and her infant great-granddaughter, Willow Honeycutt.

She is survived by her sister, Judith Anne Pope (Rick) of Salisbury; daughters Tina Honeycutt (Mike) of Salisbury, Tracy Vannoy of the home, and Nicole Lambert (Mikey) of Granite Quarry; grandsons Daniel Nelson, Jackson Honeycutt, and Josiah Lambert; great-grandson Oakley Honeycutt; and sister-in-law Susie Price of Greenville, NC.

A memorial service to honor Janet's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday January 10, 2026, at Victory Baptist Church, 315 Gold Hill Dr., Salisbury, NC, with Pastor Chris Sadler and Rev Mikey Lambert, Pastor of Antioch Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:15 pm - 1:00pm prior to the service. An additional service will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday January 13, 2026, at the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church Mission Fund, P.O. Box 998, Rockwell, NC 28138.
