Janet Lynne Cleveland, age 73, of Ulysses, KS, passed away February 12, 2026 at Western Prairie Senior Living, Ulysses, KS, where she had been a long time resident.
Janet was born October 1, 1952 in Fontana, California to Clarence and Violet (Tomiska) Cleveland. She was the first of two children born to this union. She grew up in Southern California and moved to Clyde, Kansas in the late 1960’s. Janet was a 1971 graduate of Clyde High School, and received her associates degree from Cloud County Community College, Concordia, KS in 1973. Janet was devoted to and cared for both her mother and father. Her life was committed to being a care-giver for her father in Kansas until his passing in 1983. She then moved to southern California and lived for the next 19 years with her mother, helping her and providing care for her needs until she passed in 2002.
She then moved to Ulysses, KS in 2005 to be near family, where she lived until her death.
Janet professed her life to Christ at an early age and was never married. Her life was faithful as a christian. She was an avid reader over the years. Many were surprised with the fundamental knowledge Janet possessed. She loved music, her favorite being the 50s and 60s and opera, mainly Luciano Pavarotti. She and her mother loved exploring the mountains of Southern California as well as the Oak Glen Orchards and going to the many shops in the area.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother Dr. Gary Cleveland and his wife Jan of Manhattan, KS.
