Janet Marie (Brahmer) Cossette, 78, passed away Saturday, November 29 at Sunnyside Care Center near Lake Park, MN. Janet was born on Tuesday, April 8, 1947, to Earl and Elna (Sanstad) Brahmer of Detroit Lakes, MN. She grew up northeast of Detroit Lakes and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1965. Janet married Harold Cossette on September 24, 1966, at Lund Lutheran Church of Detroit Lakes. They have lived in Hawley, MN, Kenosha, Wi, and later made their home in rural Audubon.
Janet was a member of the Lake Park Lutheran Church in Lake Park, MN and was a member of the Martha Circle and Alter Guild.
Janet worked 31 plus years at Sunnyside Care Center as a CNA, and then an activity aide.
After Harold passed away in 2009, Janet continued to live in rural Audubon until she moved to Detroit Lakes in 2014. With her health declining, she chose to make Sunnyside Care Center her home in March of 2025.
Janet enjoyed working on puzzles, crosswords and word finds, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving Janet are her sons: Paul (LaDonna) of Medora, ND and James (Leigh Ann) of Audubon, MN. Her five grandchildren: Brady and MacKenzie of Medora, ND, Chelsea of Hawley, MN, Ethan (Malea Beyer) of Hawley, MN and Garrett (Angelica Ballard) of Fargo, ND. Her three great-grandchildren: Kyson and Kallia of Medora, ND and Emeri of Hawley, MN. Her sister Sharon Leegard of Detroit Lakes, MN, and her nieces and nephews and their families.
Janet is preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents Earl and Elna Brahmer and her brother Donald Brahmer.
Janet's family would like to thank the staff of Sunnyside Care Center for their exceptional care they provided while she was in their care.
Services for Janet will be held at West-Kjos Funeral Home on Friday, December 12, 2025. A visitation hour will begin at 10:00am, with formal services starting at 11:00am. Lunch and burial to follow services.
