After a courageous battle with COPD and small cell lung cancer Janet passed away on Sunday, April 3rd, 2022. Jan was born on December 4th, 1947 in Burlington. She graduated from Winooski High School in 1965. She worked at General Electric, Vermont Photocopy, Villanti & Sons Printers Inc, and retired from Progressive Insurance.
Janet was predeceased by her parents Victor and Priscilla Deforge and her brother, Richard Deforge, Sr.
Jan is survived by her sisters Carol Redmond, Gloria Deforge (Skip Ambrose), Anita Bessette (Alan), her nephew, Jason Deforge and niece, Jennifer Torres (George), a great niece Seraphina Torres and nephew Richard Deforge, Jr (Greta), niece Laurie Deforge and special cousins Gary, Patty, and Christopher Clairmont.
Janet enjoyed family gatherings, knitting and crocheting, lounging around the pool and watching Hallmark movies. She was president of Union St. Jean-Baptiste for several years. Janet will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Jans funeral will be held on Saturday, April 23rd at 11:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Church. There will be a gathering directly after the burial. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Francis Xavier Church or the American Lung Association. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Janet, please visit our Tree Store.
