Janet Edwards, 80, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. She was born on September 19, 1943, in St. Louis, MO to the late Leroy and Emma Wacker and lived in Effingham County for a number of years where she enjoyed spending time with her friends on her front porch. She also very much enjoyed her shopping trips with her best buddy, Cindy. Her most special friend, Atticus will miss sitting on her lap dearly.
Janet will forever be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and the joy she found in spending quality time with them. She cherished the blessing of her grandchildren and the time she spent with them.
Janet supported the love of her life in all his business and travel ventures to include learning to fly private aircraft. One of her greatest passions in life was reading. She found solace and inspiration within the pages of books and cherished the knowledge and stories they held. She enjoyed gatherings with friends and family at Creve Couer Lake Park and Lake of the Ozarks, creating cherished memories that will be forever treasured.
She is preceded by her husband of 50 years, James Edwards; parents, Leroy and Emma Wacker; brother, Richard Wacker; and sister-in-law, Connie Wacker.
Survivors include her sons, John Edwards (Cindy) of Guyton, and Jeff Edwards (Sue) of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Brooke Edwards and Cameron Edwards both of St. Louis, MO; nieces, Bobbi Jean, Laura, Dana, and Shannon; great niece, Mary Faye; and cousin, Barbara Bottoms of St. Louis, MO.
Visitation will be held at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home in Guyton, GA on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 5 – 7pm. Burial will take place in St. Louis, MO at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery following a visitation at Kutis South County Chapel (5255 Lemay Ferry Road) on Tuesday, July 23 from 10:30 AM until service at 12:30 PM.
