Janet Eveslage Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 19, 2026.
Janet Ana (Rosen) Eveslage passed away on March 14, 2026, at the age of 82. She was a resident of Eagan Minnesota. Born on June 23, 1943, in Freeport Minnesota, she was the loving daughter of Bernard and Hildegard (Wensman) Rosen. Jan was a proud graduate of Staples High School, class of 1961, and remained best friends with Jean (Lenk) Backstrom, living together before her marriage and speaking on the phone for hours every day until she could no longer communicate well via telephone.

During her lifetime Jan worked for Peavey Companies, was an at home daycare provider in South Minneapolis, and worked in the replenishment department for Sears Robuck and Company both at their Lake Street and Mall of America stores before retiring. However, the real job Jan loved the most was that of being a wife to Jerry, and a mother to her 2 daughters followed by a grandmother to the light of her life Mollee. Jan was proud of her children in all of their accomplishments and encouraged them to be anything they could dream, and not to let anything hold them back. Jan knew from early on that Mollee was going to go places during her lifetime- literally- she was directionally savvy from the age of 18 months being able to provide directions to Pops and Grammie when they'd taken a wrong turn in their car. She loved watching Mollee grow and strengthen as a young lady as well as a competitive swimmer. Jan was a woman of faith instilling these values in her family. She was also a big supporter of Children's causes unbeknownst to her family until a few years ago.

Jan's favorite thing to do was spend time with her family and friends, whether having dinner, making a weekend of it, celebrating a birthday, anniversary or traveling the country. She spent a great amount of time reading books, making greeting cards when stamping was the thing to do and loved playing BUNKO with her Shakopee neighbors, as well as an avid card player with her family whenever given the opportunity. She was also a member of the America Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Group.

Preceded in death: by her loving husband Jerome Lawrence Eveslage, her parents Bernard and Hildegard Rosen, Son in Law- Allan Benjamin Kirschner, along with many brothers and sister in laws.

Survived by Daughters: Julie Eveslage (Jacksonville, FL) and Jennel Eveslage (Eagan, MN) son in love James R. Ditzler and Granddaughter Mollee Ditzler, her sisters Doris Buchta (Clarissa, MN), Kathleen Winter (Browerville, MN), Bernie Krosch (Morris, MN) and Rose Bennett (Somerset, WI) along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Service Information: A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Church of St. Peter located at 1405 Sibley Memorial Highway, Mendota Minnesota 55150-0679 at 11:00 am with a visitation held at the church one (1) hour before the mass. A Luncheon will immediately follow the service.

Special Care: The Family would like to thank the Third Floor Memory Unit Staff at Lexington Pointe Senior Living in Eagan MN. for their kind, compassionate and loving care of Jan during her time with them. The family environment within the unit was something we could not have imagined, more than we ever hoped for, especially the compassion shown for all of us during her last weeks and days. We will be forever indebted to each of you, and you will always be held in a special place in our hearts.

To the Staff from Minnesota Hospice that took such excellent care, physically, emotionally and spiritually of Jan and her family during her last months and days- there are no words. Just know that you were the right team put into our lives at Exactly the right time.
