Janet Louise Garcia, age 74, of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2024, at her residence.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, with Cecilia Hastings officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Janet was born on April 2, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Arthur Shafer and the late Margaret Ruckle Cozine. She cherished her role as a homemaker, enjoying time spent tending to her flower garden and playing with her beloved cats. An active member of Acts Christian Center, Janet loved her church family and found joy in traveling, fishing, and camping. Above all, she treasured moments spent with her family.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years, Richard Garcia; her sons, Kenny (Sarah) Paul and Ricky Paul; her daughter, Candie (Bob) Raney; her brothers, Arthur (Cathie) Shafer, Richard (Arliene) Shafer, John (Loretta) Shafer, Tom Shafer, and Tim Shafer; and her sister, Donna Dekrueger. Janet also leaves behind her grandchildren, Samantha (Ryan) Back, Kenny Jo Paul, Jr., Alexandria Paul, and Marshall Paul, as well as her great-grandchildren, Eve Back, Mayson Paul, Eli Paul, and Kenny Jo Paul III.
