Janet Garner Obituary
Janet was the wife of Lonnie Garner, with whom she shared 55 years of unwavering partnership since their marriage on September 19, 1970. Together, they built a life in Morgantown, KY, filled with love, laughter, and enduring memories. Janet's legacy continues through her son, Jeff Garner (Missy) of Smith's Grove, KY, and her grandchildren, Chloe Garner, Stormie Drake both of Franklin, KY, Sydney Hawthorne, and Jayna Hawthorne both of Bowling Green, KY. Her joy was multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Paisley Drake and Giovanni Garcia both of Franklin, KY. Janet also leaves behind her sister, Janice Embry, and sister cousin, Pam Willis, both of Morgantown, KY, as well as several cherished nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Hershel and Bell Willis Elms, her siblings Juanita Hall, Jane Cardwell, Jimmy Elms, Dorothy Phelps, and Edith Burke, and her nephew Derrick Cannon.
A member of Belmont General Baptist Church, her commitment to serving others was evident through her past membership with the Butler County Rescue Squad. Janet also served her community with pride and dedication as a Deputy Jailer for several years.
Janet's interests were a reflection of her warm and nurturing spirit. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as playing Candy Crush on her iPad, feeding the squirrels, and her cat, Lucy. Above all, Janet's greatest pleasure was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Monday, December 29, 2025 at 1:00pm with Bro. Gary Embry and Bro. TJ Howard officiating. Burial will be in the Hill Haven Memory Gardens, where Justin Williams, Todd Phelps, Kevin Phelps, Josh Embry, Travis Cannon and Michael Garcia will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Sunday December 28, 2025 from 3:00pm - 8:00pm and Monday 8:00am until funeral time at 1:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
