Janet Ahrens Goldfogle

Janet Ahrens Goldfogle was born on March 30, 1932. She passed away on May 16, 2025. She is predeceased by her husband, Richard Goldfogle, her brother Charles Ahrens, and her grandson Benjamin Goldfogle. Janet is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Robert Schaupp of Coldwater, MI; her son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, Thomas, Clare, and Anna Goldfogle of Silver Spring, MD; her sister, Marilyn Heimann of West Point, NE; her brother Franklin Ahrens of Ames, IA; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Janet grew up on a farm near Leigh, NE. She graduated from Leigh High School. She attended Wayne State College and received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland. She began her teaching career in a one-room school. Later she taught second grade, and then special education, in Fremont, NE and Big Rapids, MI. She was a flight attendant for Trans World Airlines from 1955 to 1956. She married Richard Goldfogle, an Air Force Officer, in 1956.
Being a wife, mother, and loving grandmother to Ben and Anna provided her greatest happiness. Upon Col. Goldfogle's retirement in 1977, they moved to Big Rapids, MI. Richard passed away in 1997, and Janet moved to Falcons Landing Retirement Community in Potomac Falls, VA the following year. During her time there she volunteered at both a local elementary and high school and participated in various Falcons Landing social groups.
A mass for Janet Ahrens Goldfogle will be held at Our Lady of Hope, Potomac Falls, VA, on June 9, 2025, at 11 a.m. Following the mass, a reception will be held at Falcons Landing.
Later, Janet will be buried with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery, details for this date are currently pending.
