Janet Susan Grausam

Janet Susan Grausam passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, at the age of 82. She was born on December 10, 1943, in the Bronx, New York, to Alfred and Emagene Gardella. When Janet was eight years old, the family moved to Salem, Virginia, where her father had taken a manager's position with a minor league baseball team.

Janet graduated from Andrew Lewis High School in Salem and went on to earn a degree in chemistry from Roanoke College in Roanoke, VA. She married Ronald Grausam on February 11, 1966, and the couple had a daughter, Leigh-Ann, born on October 8, 1967. The family followed Ron's career up and down the East Coast, often laughing about moving six times before Leigh-Ann turned five.

Janet worked as a medical technologist at Roanoke Memorial Hospital and Lewis Gale Hospital, where she ran the laboratory in the pediatric unit. When the family relocated to Columbia, Maryland in 1985, she stepped away from her career. In 1990, Janet and Ron moved to South Florida, eventually settling in Lake Worth, where they lived for nearly 30 years.

In 1993, Janet and Leigh-Ann opened L-A Dance. Janet ran the front desk while Leigh-Ann taught dance to hundreds of local children for more than ten years. The studio became a fixture in the community and a source of great pride for them both.

Janet and Ron shared a love of travel, exploring Europe, the Caribbean, and Hawaii. They were especially drawn to Hawaii, returning there many times throughout their lives together.

Janet was a devoted New York Yankees fan, but her greatest joy was time spent with her grandsons, Tyler and Nicholas Constable, and her great-grandson, Calihan.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Grausam, and her parents, Alfred and Emagene Gardella. She is survived by her daughter, Leigh-Ann Constable (Chris); her grandsons, Tyler Constable (Leanna) and Nicholas Constable (Zoe); her great-grandson, Calihan Constable; her sister, Lori Gardella; and her nephew, Ryan Rossi.
