Janet Gray Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by House of Law, Inc. Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Penn Hills on Jan. 28, 2026.
Janet Leigh (Logan) Gray, 70, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 23, 2026, at Presbyterian Hospital after an extensive hospital stay.

Janet was born on May 27th, 1955, to Luther Logan III and Catherine Patricia (Taylor) Logan. While her father remained a significant and supportive person in her life, she was raised in the household of Catherine Patricia (Taylor) Thompson and Paul Wallace Thompson Sr. (Stepfather), who was also a very meaningful and important person in her life.

Janet graduated from Westinghouse High School in 1973, where she was involved in several activities, including her personal favorite, Step-Drill Team. She excelled in her academic studies, especially in the clerical training programs. She loved singing and enjoying her time with her many friends.

After graduating from high school, Janet worked continuously while raising her two children with her husband, Gilbert Gray. Her professional career eventually took her to Kane Hospital, where she became the Administrative Secretary for over 28 years until her retirement.

Throughout her life, Janet was known for her compassionate and caring nature, and for her personal values, convictions, and willingness to help others. A determined and strong-willed woman, Janet would take the lessons that life had taught her and share them with her family and friends whenever needed. With her calming spirit, Janet could always make you feel relaxed and comfortable whenever you were around her.

She had an infectious personality that made others gravitate towards her. Always being an open and honest person that would tell you the truth, even if you didn't want to hear it, but in a way that made you understand that it needed to be said. Never mean, but in a caring and loving way that only she had. She enjoyed traveling and sharing fun times throughout the years with her husband Gilbert and spending time with her children and grandchildren immensely.

Janet was survived by her husband of over 45 years, Gilbert Gray, Son: Lance Patrick Logan and Daughter: Leah Patrice Jefferson, (Robert Jefferson Sr.), Grandchildren: Robert Jefferson Jr., Rayona Jefferson, Malik Logan and Karon Logan. Also, her sisters: Beatrice Logan, Paulette Thompson, Levirda Lester, and Patricia Thompson and her brothers Louis Logan and Leroy Thompson.

After you get beyond the grief, and I know it will take some time, don't look ahead in sorrow that she is not here with us, look back with joy and think how fortunate we all were to have shared in her life. Remember the smiles and laughter that she brought to us, and with us, and then smile, even laugh if you can because that is what she would want us to do.
