URBANA – Janet Faye Havens, 85 of Urbana, Ohio, passed away on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026 at Vancrest of Urbana.
Janet enjoyed life most when she was surrounded by the people she loved. Spending time with her grandsons brought her the greatest joy, and she also treasured moments shared with family and friends.
She retired from Grimes after 25 years as an inspector. Outside of work, Janet was a loyal Ohio State Buckeyes fan and eagerly looked forward to the Champaign County Fair each year. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Urbana.
Janet was born on Sept.9, 1940 in London, Ohio, to the late Ellis and Bertha (Burton) Yates.
Janet is survived by her son, Joby (Trista) Havens; grandchildren, Mason Havens, Cooper Havens, Maddox Havens; brothers, Raymond (Lois) Yates, Vernon Yates, Robert (Judy) Yates; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 36 years, Newt Havens; parents; brothers, Lawrence Yates, Donald Yates, and Willard Freeman Yates.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026 in VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio.
Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Dan Moore officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 960 Children's Home Rd, Urbana, Ohio 43078 or the Champaign County Fairgrounds, P.O. Box 38157, Urbana, Ohio 43078 in honor of Janet's memory.
