Janet Rae Hunter

Janet Rae Hunter, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on March 19, 2026. She was born on November 2, 1938, in Akron, Ohio, and lived in St. Augustine for more than 50 years.

Janet worked for many years at the St. Augustine Preservation Board before becoming an instructor at St. Augustine Vocational & Technical Center, where she taught Secretarial Office Practices, Computer Studies, and Medical Transcription.

She enjoyed quilting, working puzzles and reading, and she cherished time spent with her family and friends.

Janet is survived by her daughters, Debbie Martinez (Rocky) of Keysville, Georgia, and Diana Robelen (John) of Grovetown, Georgia; and her son, Donnie Holcomb (Tammy) of St. Augustine, Florida. She is also survived by seven granddaughters, Ami Andrews, Vanessa Hickman, Jennifer Hibshman, Sarah Johnson, Rachel Coleman, Keri O'Connell and Ashli Smith; eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Hunter; her parents, Earle "Butch" and Pearl Warnick; and her siblings, Beverly Novak, Cindy Warnick, and Jim Warnick.

Janet was active in her church, Turning Point at Calvary, and her Bible study group, affectionately known as the Crabshack Ladies.

Graveside Service and Visitation will be held at Craig Memorial Park on March 26, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am with graveside service to follow at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blood Cancer United or the Mayo Clinic.

The family would like to thank the Mayo Clinic and Dr. Geraldo Colon-Otero for 40 years of excellent treatment and care.
