Janet Kirk Obituary
She was born in Lee Center on December 23, 1942 a daughter of Lyle and Pauline Weibel Pratt. She grew up in the Lee Center area and graduated from West Leyden High School in the Class of 1960. She was united in marriage with Herman R. Kirk on July 7, 1962 at St. Joseph's Church, Lee Center. He died January 16, 2019. After their marriage the couple settled on Beartown Road in Ava. Janet was employed with the Oneida County Sheriff's Office in the correctional facility from 1990 until she retired in 2002.
She was a member of the Point Rock Fish & Game Club. Janet greatly enjoyed her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved watching the New York Yankees and Syracuse basketball. She would often host game parties for family and friends. She also enjoyed watching cop shows.
Surviving are her children, Darlene and Richard Sturgeon, Pauline and Dennis Williamson, Russell and Tina Kirk, Christine O'Connor and Scharlena and Tim Leos; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Norman and Marylou Pratt, Donald Pratt, Roger Pratt; sisters-in-law, Kathy Pratt, Linda Darling and Shirley Lorenzoni and a brother-in-law, Charles Kirk. She was predeceased by two brothers, Bill and Robert Pratt.
Janet's family would like to acknowledge and thank special people, Rose Derenda-Allen, Hospice and Dr. Jawad Shaikh, neighbors, Bob and Katherine Roman and great friend, Dick Sturgeon.
Calling hours for Janet will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville. The funeral will be on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Stokes. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413 or to the America Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
