Janet Lauter

Janet Lauter 83, of Hanover, IN. passed away on Thursday morning June 13, 2024, at River Terrace Health Campus in Madison, IN. She was born on May 24, 1941, in Line Fork, KY to Vernon and Sylvia Ison Miller. She was a member of New Hope Community Church and retired as a paraprofessional at New Washington Elementary after 30 years of service. She was a master gardener who was well known for her gorgeous flower gardens and loved spending time outside in nature. She enjoyed painting and drawing along with baking, cooking, and sewing and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 63 years, Lloyd Lauter, Jr; her infant son, Lloyd Nelson Lauter III and a son-in-law, Clayton Schott, sister, Jean Davidson.
Janet is survived by her loving daughters, Nancy Robison (James) of Otisco, IN, Sharon Norris of Tampa, FL, and Dawn Wills (Bryan) of New Washington, IN; brothers, Richard Miller of Birdseye, IN, and Jeff Miller (Pam) of Scottsburg, IN; sisters, Jessie Hopper of Lexington, IN, Jewell Shanklin (Bob) of Scottsburg, IN, and Sheila Gross; and by her grandchildren, Natasha Robison (Josh), Haley Rice (Logan), Michael Dickey (Mallory), Brandon Wills (Courtney), Brittany Wills and Nelson Norris; great-grandchildren, Lilah Rice, Lennon Rice, Violet Johnson, Eliana Wills and Braelynn Wills; many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Life Celebration Services will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday and after 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
