Grayson Funeral Home - New WashingtonEugene Franklin, a cherished member of the Marysville community, passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on December 10, 1943, in Charlestown, Indiana, he was a man of remarkable spirit and kindness whose life was defined by his unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Eugene, affectionately known as Ben, enjoyed a successful career with Ford Motor Company, where he retired after 30 years of dedicated service. Beyond his professional achievements, he was deeply involved in his community, contributing his time and effort working in tobacco, cutting grass, chopping wood, and performing handyman tasks for those in need. His willingness to lend a hand made him a valued friend and neighbor, often seen cleaning up yards after storms or teaching others the skills he had mastered over his lifetime.
A graduate of New Washington High School, Eugene possessed a charisma that endeared him to everyone he met. He had a unique ability to connect with people, making them laugh and brightening their days with his unfiltered honesty and warmth. His greatest pride came from his family—his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He often spoke of them as his proudest accomplishments, relishing in the joys and milestones they achieved.
Eugene was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Franklin, and his second wife, Betty Franklin. He leaves behind a loving family, including his children, Stephen (Kimberly) Franklin, Roxanna (Ken) Mattingly, and Amanda Taflinger; grandchildren, Jordan Franklin, Ethan Franklin, Georgia (Baylor) Jones, Autumn May, Payton May, Elijah Franklin, Khyrstal (Sylar) Stevens, Evan Franklin, and Eian Franklin; and great-grandchildren, Kadience Martin, Brinley Legrand, Maddox Jones, Mason Jones, Holden Stevens, Mercy Jones, and Tinesley "Olive" Franklin, along with Esrom Stevens. He is also survived by his sisters, Josephine (Rocky) Hall, Sharon Murphy, and Shirley Baker.
Eugene's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the love he shared with his family and friends. A Celebration of Life event will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at the Franklin Farms Event Venue, 7520 Oscar Long Road, in Marysville, Indiana, 47141, offering an opportunity for all who knew him to celebrate his incredible life and the indelible impact he made on so many.
