Obituary published on Legacy.com by Naville & Seabrook Funeral Home - Market Street Chapel on Jan. 16, 2026.
Robert Lee Copple, 82, passed away peacefully Wednesday January 14, 2026 at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital.
He was born in Nabb, IN. to the late Ruth and Goebel Copple. He was an Electrician and worked for many years at ICI Americas. He was an Air Force Veteran and a dedicated Christian who loved to spread the gospel and was very active in the community where he visited churches and nursing homes to allow him to spend time with the elderly. He was a huge IU fan, and he loved to experience adventure, whether it be through riding motorcycles or traveling across the country, and he was one of the most giving and generous people. Above all else, he loved his family and loved to spend time with them, especially taking his grandchildren to get ice cream.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Shirley Hampton, his son-in-law: Patrick McLaughlin, his sister: Esther Hooker and his brother: Earl Copple.
Robert is survived by his daughters: Deanna McLaughlin and Alicia Gardner(Mark), his brothers: Donald Copple(Terry) and Glen Copple, his sisters: Wanda Hays(George) and Carol Bowman, his grandchildren: Cameron McLaughlin(Holly), Adam McLaughlin(Kaitlin), Brandon McLaughlin(Zoe), Alexander and Logan McLaughlin, and Averie Gardner, and his great-grandchildren: Remi, Rory, Rowan, Oliver, Elsie, Lennox, Ruby and Jaxon.
A Celebration of Robert's life will be held at 11 AM Wednesday January 21, 2026 at the Market Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes(1119 E. Market St.) with burial and full military honors at Crown Hill Cemetery in New Washington, IN. Visitation will be from 2 – 7 PM Tuesday.
