Janet E. Lax

Janet E. Lax, 89, of Orrville, died Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Shady Lawn Health Care Community in Dalton following a period of declining health. She was born in Canton on February 25, 1920 to the late Albert F. and Alice (Mohr) Torgler and married Darrell D. "Chub" Lax on March 22, 1942. He died June 30, 2003. She had lived in West Lebanon prior to moving to Orrville in 1981 and was a member of the West Lebanon United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday school nursery class for 45 years. She was a member of the Faithful Friends Class and the United Methodist Woman where she had served as president and secretary. She was a former member of the Mt. Eaton Elementary P.T.A. for many years and had served as its president. She retired from Freedlanders in Wooster. She is survived by children, Patricia Metcalf of Toledo and Jay (Bobbi Jo) Lax of Orrville; four grandchildren and six great granddaughters; two brothers, Paul Torgler of Canton and Don Torgler of Dalton. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Lax; an infant son, Dennis Lax; and her step-mother, Lucille Torgler. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the West Lebanon United Methodist Church with Rev. Linda Bradley officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in West Lebanon.
