Taylor Funeral Service & Crematory - CedaredgeJanet Maxine Lindstrom, age 85, passed away peacefully on February 6th, 2026 in Delta, Colorado. Janet’s love for God, her family, friends and others around her has left an everlasting footprint, touching lives and hearts all around the world.
Janet was born on October 19, 1940 to Earl and Mildred (Bledsoe) Atkins, in Sterling, Colorado. In 1958, she graduated as valedictorian from Fleming High School and went on to graduate from Bethel School of Nursing in 1961. She met the love of her life, Dale, in 1958 and they were married on September 14, 1960, recently celebrating 65 years of marriage.
Janet was a woman of strong faith in Jesus and she and Dale were longtime members of Southern Baptist Churches. They served as missionaries in Venezuela with the International Mission Board from 1969 to 1981 where Janet worked in women’s ministry, providing nursing care for missionaries and church members and most importantly, keeping up with Dale while raising their 3 daughters.
Her distinguished career as a registered nurse included mental health care, assisted living, hospital, and hospice care. As a two-time survivor of breast cancer, she used every opportunity to minister to others through her illness, surgery and recovery.
Janet is survived by her husband, Dale Clifton Lindstrom; daughters Sonia Jean Burnett of Tucson, Arizona; Christine Joy Poe (Gary) of Lantana, Florida; and Laura Jo Rickard (Bret) of Loveland, Colorado. She leaves behind seven grandchildren - Erik, Gabriela, Brianna, Rebecca, Taylor, Drew, and Ellie - and four great-grandchildren: Jameson, Colton, Isabella, and Alexandra. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry Dean Atkins (Mark Simmonds), her aunt Marjorie Brown, and many beloved relatives and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at Grand Mesa Baptist Church in Cedaredge on Thursday, February 26 at 2:00 p.m., and at Sterling Berean Church on Saturday, February 28 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow both services, and all friends and family are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations to HopeWest Hospice of Delta or Grand Mesa Baptist Church are appreciated.
