Janet Mae Martin, age 86, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025. She was born on December 28, 1938, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and creativity.

Janet was a devoted wife to the late Richard Martin and a loving mother to her four children: Sherry Muchata and her late husband, Robert; Brian Martin and his wife, Patricia; Holly McQuarrie and her husband, Don; and Penny Taylor and her husband, Mark.

She was a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren, a cherished great-grandmother to five, and a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her siblings, John Averill and his wife Joan, and Shirley Sullivan and her husband Richard, with whom she shared many warm memories. Her family was her heart, and she found her greatest joy in watching each generation
grow.

A master gardener, Janet had an extraordinary gift for nurturing both plants and people. Her gardens flourished as beautifully as the friendships she cultivated. She also had a lifelong love of arts and crafts and treasured time with her close circle of friends. Whether creating something by hand or enjoying good conversation, Janet brought light, laughter, and warmth wherever she went.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friends of Carolyn Hospice, 329 Friends Lane, Ridgeland, SC 29936-an organization close to the family's heart.
