Janet Plemmons McConnell

 

Janet Plemmons McConnell, 74, of Whittier, NC., passed away Wednesday morning July 19, 2023
A native and a lifelong resident of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Edith Plemmons.
Jan was a Member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church, she taught Bible School for awhile and was very involved in other activities at her Church. She enjoyed working with children and was very artistic with Christmas arts and crafts. She retired from Jackson County Schools. Jan even had a love of music, she was a singer and song writer before her health slowed her down. She released a CD "Leaning on the Rock", which featured 11 original Gospel songs of hers. What Jan loved to do the most was to cook and bake, especially around the Holidays, just spending time with her family was the Joy in her life. 
She is survived by her husband of 54 years Walter McConnell
Daughter; Suzanne (Jamie) Williamson of Whittier
4 Grandchildren; Drew, Isaac, and Alex Rice, and Jakob Sutton
4 Great Grandchildren; Kyler, Paisley, Kosiah and Dallas Rice
Her twin brother; James Harold (Betty) Plemmons of Whittier
Nephew; Jim Plemmons Jr.
Lifelong friend; Margaret Nations

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday July 22, 2023 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Mickey Duvall officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 till 2;00 prior to the Service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bumgarner Cemetery in Whittier.
