On Friday, September 2nd, 2022, Janet M. Overstreet (aka Grandjan for the past 27 yrs.) accomplished her final goal when she transferred from the Earthly to spiritual plane to join her parents, numerous family members, and friends that have gone before her.
Grandjan was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas, and spent too many hours to count with her mother's extended hometown family, the Motleys.
She was a proud Amarillo Sandie and cultivated those friendships to the end of her time on Earth.
While attending Amarillo Community College, she met her ultimate partner and the love of her life Curtis, asking a sorority sister to invite him to attend the Howdy Dance with her. That love has lasted for 56+ years as of their anniversary on August 11th, 2022.
After residing a short time in California, while Curtis served in the Navy, they both returned to Amarillo with Chris and Todd, their first two children, shortly adding her third son Brandon to the family.
Grandjan raised her three boys with deep love, a basis in faith, a breath of grace, much patience and when needed a hard line not to be crossed. While wrangling her three boys, she also went back to ACC to finish a degree as a Dental Assistant with top honors and volunteered with the Amarillo Junior League for countless hours where of course, she met even more lifelong friends.
Grandjan relocated to Austin shortly after her first grandchild was born and within months had more friends in Austin than her children who had lived there for 2 years. She had the ability to make everyone feel welcome and never met a stranger in her new digs while keeping up with the old gang from her childhood and previous adventures.
Then came more grandchildren. She was so proud of them that every person she met would have to take a pause to listen to the story of the latest one born or the accolades of the older ones. A 15-minute stop would turn into meeting new people and a lifetime of phone calls to check in on her new friend to make sure their life was still on track.
In all weather, Grandjan always had a big enough umbrella to cover all that she loved even if they didn't think they needed it. That umbrella created unlimited hope and possibilities for everyone she knew and was mounted on a firm foundation in her faith in God and secondarily in her family and friends. She always KNEW that the impossible was in fact possible.
If you knew her, You Know Her!
Grandjan was preceded to her new place by her mother Laverne (Dolly) and father, Edward P. (Peter Rabbit) Madley.
She has now passed her umbrella to her lifelong love and husband William Curtis Overstreet, her children Amanda and Chris Overstreet, Todd Overstreet, and Ann and Brandon Overstreet, her grandchildren Jacob Overstreet and his love Lauren, Katherine Overstreet, Maddie, Gray, Fletcher and Olivia Overstreet, and Savannah, Jax and Lydia Overstreet. We all know she will be watching for all great-grandchildren to come.
Many thanks and many prayers we love you Grandjan!!!

We have only known Jan for about ten years but she was a wonderful friend. We were looking forward to her coming to visit us in Alberta sometime soon but sadly that won't happen now.
We extend our love and good wishes to her on her journey now. We also send our blessings to Curtis who has to now make his earthly journey on without her.
