Janet Elaine Peterson

PETERSON, Janet Elaine – of Davison, formerly of Lansing, age 80, passed away on July 28, 2025. Cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 8192 Davison Rd., Davison, Michigan 48423. Pastor Linda Graham officiating. The family will receive visitors at 10 AM until the time of service at church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association in honor of Janet.

Janet was born on October 23, 1944, in Lansing, Michigan, the beloved daughter of the late James and Aleta (Weir) Johnson. On June 12, 1971, she married the love of her life, Jan Peterson, in Lansing, where they built a life filled with love, family, and service. Janet had a deep love for sewing, with quilting being one of her favorite pastimes. She found joy in creating beautiful pieces and even greater joy in sharing them with others. Her greatest passion, however, was her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. A natural caregiver, Janet operated a home daycare for many years, nurturing and guiding countless children with warmth and love. Her heart for helping others extended into her community as well-she was always willing to lend a hand and volunteered in various roles throughout her life. Later, she found joy working as a greeter at Meijer, where her friendly and outgoing personality shone. She loved connecting with people, always ready with a smile or kind word. A faithful member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and formerly of First Presbyterian Church in Lansing, Janet devoted herself to church life and volunteered in numerous ministries. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the way she made everyone feel welcome and loved.

Janet is survived by her husband, Jan Peterson; children: Richard (Chrissy) Lower II, William (Janet) Lower, Karen (Matthew) Potts, Daniel (Hande) Peterson; grandchildren: Richard Lower III, Michael (Brandy Kopulos) Lower, Jennifer Cooper, Katrina (Jeremy) Prebble, Judah Potts; many loved great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; siblings: Lois (Gary) Girard and Carl Johnson; nieces, nephews, and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Jeffrey Lower; siblings: Nina Fineis, Paul Johnson, and James W. Johnson.
