Janet Pierce, a cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend, was born on February 6, 1954, in Bolivar, Tennessee. She departed this life on December 28, 2024, in Bolivar, Tennessee, surrounded by the love of her family.
For 27 dedicated years, Janet served as an operating room technician at Jackson General Hospital, Parkway Hospital, and Regional Hospital, where she was known for her compassion, skill, and unwavering commitment to her patients. Her career not only reflected her love for helping others but also showcased her diligent work ethic. Janet's efforts made a significant impact on those around her, embodying the spirit of caring that she carried throughout every facet of her life.
Janet was blessed with a beautiful family. She is survived by her loving husband, James "Dink" Pierce of Medon, whom she married on August 29, 1970 in Holly Springs, MS, and three children: daughter, Leslie McCuiston and her husband Mac of Henderson; sons, Michael Pierce, and Debbie, along with Matt Pierce and Sasha, all of Medon. Her siblings, Donnie Henson and JoAnne of Whiteville, Clifford Henson and Sherri of Henderson, Terry Henson of Toone and Sheila Dellinger and Clyde of Bolivar, held a special place in her heart. Janet’s legacy continues through her six beloved grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.
Janet cherished her time spent reading and being around her family, finding happiness in their laughter and companionship. She had an energetic spirit, always working and going all the time, embodying a zest for life that inspired those fortunate enough to know her. She was a Baptist in faith, attending Whiteville First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Orlin Hamilton Henson and Mary Elizabeth Shields Henson, who surely welcomed her with open arms. Their memories remained a guiding light in Janet's life, influencing her nurturing nature and strength.
Services to honor Janet’s extraordinary life will be held at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar, TN. Visitation will take place on January 2, 2025, from 5:30 PM until 9:00 PM, and again on January 3, 2025, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM. A funeral service celebrating her life will commence at 10:00 AM on the same day, followed by interment at Ebenezer Cemetery at Toone.
As we gather to remember Janet, we will hold her memory close, celebrating the love and joy she brought into our lives. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts. Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital.
