Janet Mary Pimental

Janet Mary Pimental, 84, of Portsmouth, RI, was born on June 11, 1941, in Newport, RI, and passed away at the RI Veterans Home in Bristol on January 27, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Helen (Minior) Pimental.

Janet graduated from Rogers High School in Newport, and then proudly served as a U.S. Navy WAVE during the Vietnam War. After her military service ended, she worked for many years at The Newport National Bank and at Citizens Bank as an assistant manager. In her later years, she was employed as a caregiver at Looking Upwards Group Home in Middletown, RI, where she thoroughly enjoyed working with the residents.

She was kind, caring, generous and fiercely independent.

Janet is survived by her sisters, Paula Haldeman of Groton, CT, and Eleanor Curry of Portsmouth, RI; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Jack Pimental of Sebastian, Florida, Ed Pimental of Portsmouth, RI; and sister Eileen Dallow also of Portsmouth, RI.

The family is thankful for the wonderful care Janet received from the dedicated staff at the RI Veterans home during her time there.

At the family's request, services will be private. Connors Memorial Funeral Home is assisting the family. Donations in her memory may be made to the Women Veterans Interactive Foundation (WVIF).
