Janet E. Poplos, age 91, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on September 27, 2025.

She was born and raised in Wilmington, DE and was the daughter of the late Frances (Talley) and Melvin Bedford. Janet graduated from Alfred I. Dupont School in 1948 where she began many life-long friendships. She then graduated from P.S. Dupont HS in 1951.

Janet worked as a classified ads agent for the News Journal for over 30 years and retired in 1996.

She was a life-long member of Grace Episcopal Church where she was involved with many church activities and events. Janet also wrote a column for the church newsletter.

She was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. Janet enjoyed gardening, weeding, and being outside in general. She cherished the many trips she took with her husband John to California and vacationing in Ocean City, NJ.

Her husband of 59 years, John C. died in 2011. Janet is survived by her 2 sisters, Doris Hunter and Sandra Roberson; 3 children, Cindi, Ken (Nancy), and Gary (Sandy); 5 grandchildren, Dan (Su), Amy, Nick (Kirstin), and Matt and Jake Williams; 6 great-grandchildren, Maya, Dylan, Olivia, John, and Lucy and Aspen Williams.
