Janet Prechtel

On February 11, 2025, Janet Prechtel, beloved wife of George "Joe" Prechtel; loving daughter of the late Edward and Dolores Paesch; devoted mother of Michelle Layne and her husband Robert, Dawn Vendouern and her husband Keith and Timmy Prechtel and his wife Kim Shewbridge; loving grandmother of Amanda Bass, Jonathan Layne, Jillian Vendouren, Abby Vendouern, Hannah Shewbridge and Karah Williams; cherished great grandmother of Kalli Condiff, Kira Condiff, Ivan Bass, Joey Layne, Addison Bass, Logan Karaberis and Eliana Karaberis.
Janet was married to the love of her life, Joe, for 59 wonderful years. Janet was happiest when surrounded by her family, especially during dinners and swimming get-togethers. She was a very creative soul and owned a flower shop for several years. Janet's artistic talents extended to making handmade crafts and crocheting, bringing joy to those around her.
She cherished spending time with her friends, engaging in water aerobics, painting ceramics, playing bingo, thrifting, and meeting for lunches. Janet had a special talent for decorating her home for every holiday, with Christmas being her absolute favorite.
She enjoyed traveling and had unforgettable adventures, including a memorable trip to Alaska. Janet also loved participating in antique car club events alongside her husband and rides down long windy roads. Her favorite animals included moose, mules, ravens, manatees, and herons and her beloved pet cat, Edgar.
Visitation will be held at the family owned Duda-Ruck Funeral Home of Dundalk, Inc., 7922 Wise Ave. on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A graveside service and interment will be held at Moreland Memorial Park on Monday at 11 AM.
