Janet Rose Obituary

Janet M. (Cipriani) Rose, 91, of North Attleboro, formerly of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Madonna Manor in North Attleboro, with her family by her side after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward F. Rose.

Born on November 16, 1934, in Mansfield, Massachusetts, Janet was a loving daughter of Italian immigrants, the late Luigi and Maddalena (Scatolini) Cipriani. One of twelve children, she grew up in Mansfield and was a 1952 graduate of Mansfield High School.

Janet worked in various office positions over the years and retired from Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. Her most important and cherished role in life, however, was that of a devoted wife and mother, lovingly making a home for her family.

A woman of strong Catholic faith, Janet was a longtime communicant of Saint Mary's Church in Mansfield and more recently of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church at Transfiguration of the Lord Parish in North Attleboro.

Proud of her Italian heritage, she loved cooking and was especially known for her Italian specialties, including arancini, spaghetti and meatballs, and lasagna. She also greatly enjoyed Cape Cod, the beach and ocean, clamming, and quahogging. Janet was extremely close to her sisters and spoke with them daily by phone. She especially loved sharing a condominium in North Attleboro with her daughter Cheryl and caring for their cats.

Above all else, Janet's family was her world, and her happiest moments were always those spent in their company.

She was the devoted mother of Cheryl Rose and her husband Jeff Shellenberger of North Attleboro; Alison Richards and her husband David of Cumberland, Rhode Island; and Dale Rose and his wife Lisa of North Attleboro. She was the cherished grandmother of Amanda Rose of North Attleboro and Laura Gorland and her husband Chase of Mansfield, and the loving great-grandmother of Breslin, Malcolm, and Miles. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

She was the dear sister of her late siblings: Augusto Cipriani, Iola Wolak, Julie Cipriani, Cesere Cipriani, Alfredo Cipriani, Constance Rathbun, Catherine Candela, Mary Souza, Eleanor Piccolomini, Louise Cooper, and Louis Cipriani.

Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are most warmly invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, beginning with visitation from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the SPERRY-MCHOUL-PICHI FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in her honor at 11:00 AM at Saint Mary's Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106), Mansfield. Interment will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Mansfield.
