Obituary of Janet Ethelyn Sherrod
We are deeply saddened to announce Jan Sherrod (Berg) passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, in the early morning of Sunday, April 23rd. She was preceded in death by her husband James (Jim) Sherrod, sons Scott & Steven Sherrod, and daughter Melinda Sherrod. She is survived by her son Kevin Sherrod (Christina), grandson Scott Sherrod (Steven), granddaughters Aleah & Kayla Sherrod (Kevin), and great grandson Gavin Brown (Scott).
Jan was born in Tacoma, Washington on November 29, 1933 to William & Ethel Berg (Lindgren). She met her husband Jim in Tacoma when she was 15 and they were married 4 years later. They created a beautiful, loving family over their years together. They moved around the country, and to Japan, for Jim's job in the Air Force. They also spent time together and with family traveling the world, eventually settling in San Felipe, Mexico.
Jan made an impact on everyone she met. She made friends everywhere she went and was loved by many. She was a loving, compassionate, feisty, funny, non-judgmental, and strong woman. Her smile was infectious and she touched so many hearts and made a difference in so many lives.
After being apart for 19 years, she has finally been reunited with the love of her life and their children who went before her (and all of her animal babies).
Jan is gone but never forgotten. She will forever be in the hearts of her family and those who knew her.
We were blessed to have the time we had with her and she is already deeply missed, but we know we will be seeing her again.
We love you forever.

Giving animals a loving, safe home was something Jan cared deeply about. She never met an animal she didn't like and adopted many herself. So, In lieu of flowers, her family requests monetary donations be made in her name to Best Friends Animal Society.
