Janet Specht Obituary

Janet K. Specht, age 90 of Mabelvale, and formerly of Malvern, died Tuesday evening, January 20, 2026, at her home. She was born on February 7, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois, and was the child of the late Joseph Battaglia and Eleanor Schroeder Battaglia.
Reared and educated in Chicago, she was the widow of the late Charles "Chuck" Specht, Jr., to whom she was married on December 19, 1953.  He preceded her in death on February 19, 2016.  Jan and Chuck came to Arkansas in 1979, moving to Benton, where they owned and operated the KOA Campground for a number of years.  They relocated to Malvern in 1995 and Jan began her 20+ year as a "Pink Lady" volunteer with the Hot Spring County Medical Center Auxiliary. She was a member of the Rockport Methodist Church.
Jan was an excellent cook, according to her family. She loved feeding and watching her wild birds and humming birds. Jan had a servant's heart, and was always seeking to help others in any way she could.  She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and taking care of her pup, Sugar, who is missing her terribly.
Jan leaves behind her son, Toby Specht and his wife, Stacy; her daughter, Melissa Specht of Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren, Chase Specht, Katie Specht, Bradley Coker (Cassie), and Justin Coker; and by two great-grandchildren, Colt Coker and Kenzley Coker.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday morning, January 31, 2026, at 10:30, in the sanctuary of Rockport Methodist Church with Pastor Troy Cate officiating.
Memorials are requested to Arkansas Children's Hospital, Rockport Methodist Church; and you are urged to donate blood to the American Red Cross.
