Janet Stevenson Obituary

Janet (Scalan) Stevenson, of Canterbury CT, formerly of Haddam Neck and Portland, age 89, passed away peacefully at home on 1/8/25. Daughter of the late James and Gunhild Scanlan, she was born and raised in New Britian, CT. She was a graduate of the Grace New Haven Hospital, school of nursing class of 1956. She practiced her profession in the Middletown area hospitals, retiring from CT Valley Hospital in 1992 and Middlesex Rehab Convalescent Center in 1999. Janet was predeceased by her loving husband of 39 years, David D. Stevenson, her beloved infant daughter, Robin Ellen Stevenson, her sister and best friend Karen S. Gardner and loving son-in-law Anthony Denning. Her survivors include her beloved daughter Lynne Denning of Canterbury, with whom she made her home since 2008. Her beloved granddaughter Bridgett and husband Jon-Paul LaBrecque of Canterbury CT, her cherished great grandchildren Dylan and Kaleb LaBrecque, of Canterbury CT. Her beloved grandson David Clark and wife Karen and cherished great granddaughter Angelina and great grandson Derek Clark of East Hampton CT., also grandson Zachary Denning of Dayville CT. and adopted granddaughter Melissa Gravlin of Florida. Her brother in law William Gardner of Madison, CT, her nephew Joshua Gardner and his family of Boston, MA. Her niece Katrina Gottlieb and family of Mystic, CT. Many more family and friends. A Ceremony of Life will be held at Trinty Church in Portland at 1:00 on February 8th. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Janet Stevenson, please visit our floral store.
