Janet Lynn Stobie Hamilton, 61, residing in Vickery, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on May 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and close friends, after a courageous year-long battle with illness.
Born on July 3, 1963, Janet was raised in the close-knit community of Lakeside Marblehead. She graduated from Danbury High School and the EHOVE Career Center. A compassionate and selfless person, Janet dedicated her life to helping others, both professionally and personally. Her greatest and most heartfelt role was as the devoted caregiver to her autistic son, Andrew William Roe. Her unwavering love, patience, and fierce advocacy for individuals with special needs touched countless lives.
Janet's heart radiated kindness. Whether through her work, her crafts, or simply her warm and generous spirit, she brought comfort and joy to everyone she encountered. She had an extraordinary ability to brighten even the darkest of days and made those around her feel truly seen and loved.
She is survived by her beloved children, Andrew William Roe, Autumn Nicole Hamilton (Derrick Mares), and Ashley Marie Hamilton Shepherd (Eric Shepherd); cherished grandchildren, Preston Hamilton, Hunter Shepherd, Brennen Mares, and Millie Mares; her loving siblings, Barb Rayle, Tim Stobie, Debbie Stobie Howard (Jim Howard) and Mark Stobie (Ivy Stobie); along with many dear nieces, nephews, and their children. She truly treasured her best of friends, and her community on the avenue.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Joanne and Russell Stobie; her sister-in-law, Sandra "Darri" Stobie; and her brother-in-law, David Rayle. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.
Family and friends are invited to gather in her honor on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave.,
Sandusky, OH 44870. Calling hours will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by a time of sharing and remembrance from 3:30 to 4:00 PM. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Janet's legacy is one of love, resilience, and compassion, and lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. She faced every challenge with strength and grace, and her infectious spirit will live on. Her soul is one that cannot be forgotten.
